ABOUT BAIYUPAN
You are a God. And you have arrived to the Moon for one reason. To find your personal peace.
Inspired by Chinese mythology, this project is a collaboration with kutani craftsmen in Japan, with creative direction and design by Airi Pan. Created out of a wish for functional artwork, each piece is representative of a key story element from the worldbuilding project BaiYuPan
Bringing worldbuilding to real life
ETERNITY PLATE
Signature plate of the collection. A perfect dish to plate snacks and meals, or display as artwork.
It’s a story of try, try, and trying again, how we go through our lives doing the same things over and over. But there is eternal beauty in hard work, and the process

SERVICE PLATE
In Chinese mythology, say that there is a rabbit on the moon. In this case, there's two, one white and one black. They're stewards for the Gods' every wish, and anything you place on the plate, they will revolve and circle around.
Traditionally used for condiments or side dishes, this kozara (small plate) is ideal for pastries and snacks, or as a setting plate for the Godling cup.

GODLING CUP
The moon is a resort to forget your memories, and each God comes to forget something very specific to them
The Lovers (the birds), come to forget each other so they can fall in love over and over again
The Maiden (the deer) comes to forget the burdens that weigh on her mind, of being perfect all the time
The Mother (the lion) comes to forget her most cherished memories, to gift them to her child, so that he may grow with no hardships
All these Gods come to forget something
When making this cup, it was in search of a little pause. Someplace where even gods get to start over.

MAKING OF
This project took a full year to create, driven by a mission to combine art, world building and functionality.
Each plate is made by Kitano Tojudo’s studio in the Kutani tradition, a celebrated style of Japanese porcelain from Ishikawa Prefecture with over 350 years of history.
Every color is mixed by hand to match the design and fired multiple times by hand, layer by layer, giving each hue its own depth and character.
This project could not have happened without
